in need of help

I found this blog that is just heartbreaking. This sweet family has been through so much, I know they'd appreciate any help they can get. Their baby girl is in the nicu and they have so many worries ahead of them. :/
Check out their story here.

They have lots of bills, if anyone can help! They are facing losing their house and everything.

Breaking News

As you guys have noticed, I've been lagging a bit on the blogging. Life has been crazy these past few weeks, I'm overly exhausted, dealing w/ migraines constantly and not being able to eat much of anything. Can you guess why?! ;)
Yes, baby #2 is on the way. :) This pregnancy in some ways is a lot harder than my first, perhaps b/c I have a toddler to keep up with. lol So I haven't been keeping up with things the way I should... Now you know why...
We surprised our family on Christmas day with our news. It was very exciting. Baby #2 is due sometime in August and I can't wait to have another kid in the house!!!

We went to a friend's house last week and she made cookies w/ our daughters. :) I may do that w/ my little one this week, she loved it.

christmas is almost here...

I can't believe Christmas is in the end of the week. CRAZY!!! Up until about 2 years ago, Christmas to me was just another (very stressful) day. I enjoyed shopping, and especially giving my husband a present. But the days just wasn't fun, like it used to be when I was a kid. And then everything changed in 2008, when my daughter was born. :) She was 6 weeks old for her first Christmas, so we didn't do much. I gave her a book and a doll. She had no idea what was going on. Then last year, we bought her a Corolle baby doll and a princess play kitchen. We set up the kitchen under the tree so it was the first thing she saw when she ran into the living room that morning. It was so sweet. This year, I bought her more stuff. lol I love watching her get so excited for Christmas. She loves the tree, the village (which she calls castle), and driving around looking at lights. I'm so excited to watch her open her presents on Christmas morning. She keeps asking me if she can "open Christmas" anytime she walks by the tree. :)
As excited as I am to be w/ my husband and daughter these holidays, it is still very stressful. We always end up driving back and forth b/t family and never have time at home, so that we can enjoy each other. :/ I keep joking w/ my husband that we need to go out of town one Christmas, so it can be just the 3 of us, making our own traditions.. He hasn't agreed to it yet. Maybe one day ;)

car woes

We are a 1 car family. For the most part it's fine, but somedays it's really hard not to have 2 cars. Earlier this week, our car broke down. SO we have ZERO cars. lol Our mechanic will be seeing it today, so we'll find out if it can be fixed or not.
It is AMAZING how God has taken care of us this week. Sweet friends have offered to take us grocery shopping.. A friend let my husband have his car 1 night so he could get from work and back to work the next day. And this same friend has gone above and beyond, picking up my husband and taking him home, even though he lives on the opposite side of town. My mother in law has also helped out and it's just been amazing how even though we don't have a car, things still have worked out. Now, I'm a bit nervous b/c we really need this car to be fixed today... If not, we'll have to bite the bullet and get another one. Which is only exciting b/c we could get a van ;) BUT I would rather keep our little car a little bit longer, it's paid for! So we'll just see what happens later today. It's just been really neat to see God provide for us this week and have our sweet friends take care of us. :)

tough

As you can see, my blog has been neglected all week. Between going out of town earlier this week, catching up on house chores, and dealing with bad news, it's been a rough week. Today has been a very hard day, my heart is just broken. A family friend has unexpectedly passed away and it's been hard to deal with. So I've been taking it easy... But I am sitting at the computer for a moment and wanted to check in w/ the blog world...
On Monday my husband and I took our daughter to Epcot, along w/ her Nona and Poppy. It was FREEZING! But fun! I was pretty happy to be back in my warm home that night. ;) On the way there my mother in law thought it would be a good idea to get my daughter some gloves so she wouldn't be cold. It was a great idea! And I was so thankful that I thought of taking a fleece blankie for her, b/c she stayed bundled up in her stroller. She was warmer than all of us. ;)

all bundled up :)

Blocks

When my husband comes home, our daughter immediately runs to the door, grabs his hand and takes him to her room where she insists they play blocks. :) She loves to build ships and castles.

New toys!

My hubby and I got ourselves an early Christmas present! We each upgraded our phones and got the mytouch 4g. My dream phone has always been the iphone. But we didn't want to change our provider, so we looked into other alternatives and fell in love w/ the mytouch. They came in yesterday, my husband and I spent about 3 hours last night playing around w/ it, downloading apps and stuff. One of the apps it comes with is a flashlight! I was so excited. lol
I am in love w/ my phone and wouldn't want anything else! I"m so excited to learn all about using it. To me, it's almost like rocket science, I still don't get it all. lol

My little Christmas helper

The day after Thanksgiving, we put up our Christmas decorations. My husband and I have a tradition that we watch Ratatouille when we decorate our tree. Not sure how it started, but that's what we do. :)
This year, we had a little helper. :) She was so sweet in "helping" us, but eventually we just waited until after she went to bed to finish our decorations. She LOVES the tree and loves everything Christmasy. So I did more decorating than I usually do this year, for her. I bought tons of new stuff. My big plan is to get the rest of what I want on clearance, the day after Christmas. :)

My little helper...

Her handy work

All done! I love my gold/white tree :)

3 day woes

As you can see, my blogging has been lagging... I've had a horrible migraine for the past 3 days. I used to suffer from migraines frequently, for about 4-5 years, they would come and last for days/weeks... When I got pregnant, they started getting a bit better, then after my daughter was born, they stopped. Now they have been coming back, sporadically. This week, it started on Sunday, and has stayed for the past 3 days. I haven't been able to do much at all... I am hoping that this is a fluke, and that I can get this migraine to go away and finally be free. Over the counter meds are not helping at all. But to get what I need, I'd have to return to the neurologist, and I am trying to avoid that. lol So we'll see what happens. Did I mention how hard it is to take care of a 2 year old when my head feels like it'll explode!?

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Hope you all have a great, relaxing day!

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

My girl!

I LOVE how girly my girl is. I ordered a pair of shoes from her and they came in the mail yesterday. As soon as I opened them, she insisted I put them on her feet. :) They are red w/ white polka dots, perfect for Christmas season. She spent all day in them! She also grabbed another pair from her closet that looks similar (black w/ white dots) and wanted to wear both pairs at the same time. lol The best part of the shoes is that they are squeaker shoes, she loves making them squeak. Daddy took out the squeaker from the black pair, and I took it out of her new pair before putting them on her. I know, I'm bad, but I had a headache and did not want to hear squeaking all day long. lol

The big thing in this house lately is her obsession w/ her step stool. She drags it everywhere so she can do whatever she wants.. Her 2 favorite things to do on the stool, turn on/off the light in her room (she calls is sun) and take it to the bathroom sink to wash her hands. :)

Another cute thing she's been doing is if she wants us to go somewhere w/ her, she will grab our hands and say "hand".. And then take us somewhere. Last night, she grabbed my hand to take me to her room to go play. How sweet is that!? :) It melts my heart. :) By the time we got to her room to play, she wanted to go back to the couch to watch Barney. Sigh, I can handle a lot of kid shows, but not that. lol So I convinced her to sit with me and watch Princess and the frog, one of her favorites.

I love my girl and it's so fun to watch her grow and learn something everyday :)

Life with 2

This week we've been watching a friend's 18 month old daughter, so I've had my 2 year old and then the 18 month old. I was nervous about how my daughter would react. She does not share mommy well, so I thoughtshe was going to be angry the whole time b/c there was another kid in the house. It is the total opposite! She has been like a little "mama" to our guest and it's so sweet to watch! My daughter wakes up first in the mornings, so the first thing she asks for is her friend. :) It's been great! Being that I only have 1 kid, I've learned some new things about being a "Mom" to 2 this week:

- Meal times are hectic. I don't eat until after they have eaten and been cleaned up. It's a constant race back and forth to the kitchen to get more... Am I alone in this?

- They always want the same toy

- They always want to be held at the same time

- If one wakes up crying, so will the other

- There is NO time for mommy to be selfish. I already had very little time to myself w/ 1, with 2, that's almost impossible. :)

- As much as I hate to say this, TV can be a wonderful aid when I need some sanity. lol

- Dressing up the girls to match is a LOT of fun! :)

- Cuddle times on the couch times 2 is even sweeter :)

- Laundry and dishes pile up quick if I'm not careful

- My daughter "Tries" to help, which is sweet, but not so much helpful

- Bedtime is awesome! lol Especially when they go to sleep right away.

There's a lot that doesn't change from 1 to 2 kids. But all the craziness and business is SO worth it! Our little guest leaves sometime tomorrow, so I'll go back to being a mom of 1. :) Someday I'll have 2 of my own...

I thought this picture was funny! lol

Christmas Cards

Do you ever send out Christmas cards? My husband and I have done it a few years.. We didn't do it last year though b/c it costs so much money. And I hate buying stamps! lol I also have a hard time finding photocards that I like. But with so many family members far away, we'd like to send them all a Christmas card this year w/ a picture of our family. Some of our family members have never met or seen a picture of our daughter, so I know they'll be excited. Plus, we have out of town grandparents, and they LOVE getting cards and pictures anyways. lol
So this year I plan on using shutterfly for our photo cards. I've used their products before and I am always happy with the result. Plus they are really affordable! First I need to get our family portraits done. The hard part will be picking out which Christmas outfit to put on my child. lol She has 5-6 outfits for Christmas and they are all so cute!

Once I pick out her outfit, then I can coordinate mine and my husband's, then pick out which shutterfly Christmas card to use. It's hard to pick just 1 though. lol They are all so cute!

The best part about Shutterfly is that there are SO many things to choose from! They have a great selection of cards, you can choose from holiday cards to birthday cards, baby shower invitations and even personalized mugs, and there are tons for under $1 a piece.

So far these are my favorites for our Christmas cards:
It's going to be hard to pick just one...

NOTE: I will be receiving 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly for letting you know about their cards. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. And I really do think Shutterfly's quality is really good and the prices are fair. If you're a blogger and want 50 free cards all you have to do is apply.

My special treat

You guys have heard me talk about my keurig before. My husband gave it to me as a birthday present. I absolutely love it. I get up in the mornings and the first thing I do is brew a cup... At nights, after a long day, I like to sit on the couch, watch my favorite tv show and sip some decaf. Now you may ask, what is the big deal about this machine?
The best part of the keurig is all the variety of coffee, tea and hot chocolate that you can buy. I absolutely love all the options and can't wait to try them all!!! :) I have 4-5 different coffees in my cabinet, 4 different creamers in my fridge. So when I am in the mood for a special treat, I just have to choose which flavor :) It's the best and I don't have to go anywhere to get fancy coffee. I think this is a total must have for any coffee lover. Anyone out there have a keurig?

Now, I found this on youtube, it's the best idea ever! I wonder if my 2 year old can do this :)

Sorry, this post isn't a recipe or a giveaway...Just sharing my favorite treat with other coffee lovers :)

schedule

I love having a schedule for my day. I don't like change, I like doing the same routine daily... When I became a housewife, I was 8 months pregnant... I decided to divide my household chores into different days, each day I'd do certain things and make sure they get done. It made things less stressful after the baby was born. Now, 2 years later, my routines have changed, I've had to make sure spending time with my daughter comes first. I've tried several different schedules w/ her and we always stick to it. It always works. During her Individual Playtime (usually lasts 1 hour) and her TV time (about another 1 hour or so) I clean... Then I set time aside to play with her, teach her, color with her and so forth... This week I started a new routine. We were on vacation last week, so everything was different. And before then, we were just in survival mode. I felt like nothing was getting done. SO after talking to a friend this week, I started a new "home management" routine in my house. I LOVE it and feel very accomplished by naptime.
My schedule:
8:00-8:30 Wake up, I read her a chapter from the Bible, breakfast
8:30-9:30 TV time, mommy cleans up
9:30-10 Color time, puzzles and books with mommy
10-10:30 Outside play time
10:30-11:30 Individual playtime in her room, Mommy cleans and makes lunch
11:30-12:00 clean up room
12:00-1:00 lunch and tv time
1:00-3:30 nap time
3:30-4 wake up/ snack
4:00-5:00 Free play or outside playtime (depending on weather)
5:00-6:00 Individual playtime in her room, Mommy cooks dinner
6:00-6:30 Eat dinner
6:30-7 playtime with mommy
7:00-8 Playtime with daddy (this is usually the time that he comes home)
8 bathtime
8-8:30 play in room with mommy and daddy/ get ready for bed
8:30 bedtime!

Now, as much as a stickler as I am to keeping things running smoothly, we don't ALWAYS follow this... For example, yesterday we spent all morning in the park. This morning I have got to catch up on chores I missed yesterday so she's watching UP... I'll make sure she gets plenty of mommy time as well :) But since starting this schedule, she is a much happier baby and it makes bedtime SO much easier. We had been struggling to get her to sleep since converting her bed, but now it's been much easier!
Anyways, just my anal side coming up with this schedule... It works for me and forces me to get my chores done b/c I have specific times set aside for that. Most importantly I want to make sure I spend most of my time with my daughter, b/c she is more important!

Birthday week

Last week was my daughter's 2nd birthday. We celebrated all week with a trip to Disney :) But first we had a small family party, Minnie Mouse style! lol I made all the decorations myself and my mother in law made the beautiful cake. I loved everything about it and can't wait till next year's party. :) My daughter has 3 cousins, 1 is older than her, and the other 2 are younger. They all wore a Mickey (the 2 boys) and Minnie shirt to match the theme of the party. It was adorable!

I made the party favor bags.. I had a friend cut out the letters and bow w/ her cricut...

I bought red tissue paper and stamped white polka dots on all of them. Then I made them into bows :) I printed out the head and photoshopped a red #2 on them... I put them together on dowel rods. I made 2 of these centerpieces.. The rest of the big red bows, I put on the walls...

The beautiful, and very delicious cake. :) I cut out the minnie heads out of foam and made the bows out of ribbon. The top bow is also ribbon.

Blowing out the candle. :) The banner is from etsy!

I really enjoyed planning this party! Etsy was a BIG help in getting everything together :) I love shopping there!!!

Monday Etsy finds...

Have you seen Giftsewfine?
I love that shop! I recently got my daughter an outfit from there. My daughter's 2nd birthday was last week, she had a Minnie Mouse party. Then we also took her to Disney, and she wore the same outfit for Magic Kingdom and got TONS of compliments. I mean, everyone that saw her just complimented her nonstop. As her mommy, I LOVED all the attention she got :) She is of course the prettiest little girl ever (I'm not biased at all)... lol Anyways, want to see what she wore?

While we were sitting here, this older lady sat next to us and said that she was the prettiest little girl in the park that day ;)

Happiest place on earth! :)

Click here to see this outfit and more! You will fall in love with this shop!

BTW her jewelry is also Minnie Mouse, stay tuned on where you can get it! It'll be next week's etsy finds :)

6 days..

In 6 days my little baby girl will turn 2. It is hard to believe that 2 years ago I was still pregnant, planning her arrival... I think back to 2 years ago and it was such a sweet moment. Her getting bigger is bittersweet, I miss those baby moments. But I love the age she is now. She is so fun and so smart. And I am very thankful that she is growing and is healthy. Watching her grow has been amazing and I look forward to the upcoming years and many more experiences with her...
To celebrate her birthday, my husband and I debated on a party. We have a small house, so a big party would have to be in a different location. When I looked at how much it could cost, it was crazy! We decided to do her party the same way we did last year, just family over for dinner and cake. And then we are taking our daughter to celebrate her birthday at Disney! We figured it was a better use of money instead of a big party. :) We are SO excited and can't wait!!!

One of the best days of my life!

Mommy Corner-"Normal"

Well this week brings back some "normal" in our house. Last Monday night, my daughter got sick with a stomach bug. By Tuesday night, she had shared with me. I was miserable!!! Then Thursday my husband got it... So we all just laid in bed or the couch, watched TV and drank ginger ale and gatorade... The nice thing was that I got lots of extra cuddle time with my baby girl. :) AND I lost weight!!! That is the only positive. It's been 1 week and I still can't eat much. There are certain foods that don't sound good, so I'm still a little limited in what I eat. Not even coffee has sounded good to me. My tummy is still settling, slowly. I'm also trying to get the house back to normal, cleaning and getting my daughter back in her routine. Her sleep routine is finally back to normal. Now I just gotta get her away from the TV. 1 week of nothing but watching it has made her a bit of an addict. lol I am ready for normal again!!!

Rough week

I spent all day in bed yesterday, literally! My daughter was kind enough to share her stomach bug with me. So I spent all night and day yesterday so miserably sick. Today she and I are on the mend. I feel very weak and trying to take it easy. But not my husband has caught it. I guess it was inevitable. Curse you stomach bug!!!
I'll be around again when we are all well. :)

Mommy Corner- Mess

Last night my daughter and I went grocery shopping. On the way home, as soon as we pulled into our street, I hear her cough and see something flying out of the corner of my eye. I turn around quickly and realize that she has thrown up eveywhere. It was so gross! I cannot handle it... The whole time she kept saying "I made a mess". It was sad. So I get home and have to choose b/t unloading the dirty child or the groceries that are melting in my trunk. I chose the child. I stripped her and threw everything in the wash. I gave her a bath and got her ready for bed. She was bouncing all over the place, so I thought that it was a one time thing. She asked for milk, but I decided to play it safe and gave her water. Hmm, bad idea, about 10 minutes later she threw up again, she couldn't bring herself to stop. Broke my heart! SO I had to give her another bath! Then she went to sleep. She woke up about every hour throwing up. :( At about 2:30 she went back to sleep fine. We'll see what today brings.

In her 2 years, she's never had the stomach bug. Which I'm thankful for, but i am so clueless as to how to handle it. She won't drink pedialyte, at all!

Some things I learned yesterday: Lysol will NOT take the smell of throw up out of hard wood floors. I googled it and it said to try some things... White vinegar, windex, shampoo/conditioner and some others... I did the Shampoo/ Conditioner and it was PERFECT! The smell was driving me crazy. I did lysol twice and pledge once and it didn't do anything. But once I scrubbed the floor w/ the S/C the smell was gone. :)

2 cute things my daughter did through all this: Everytime she threw up she would say "made a mess". Which was cute, but sad b/c she thought she was in trouble. So I kept reassuring her. And the other one is that she kept saying she was boo boo but wouldn't show me her boo boo. I finally asked if her belly was boo boo and she nodded. :)

Love the smell of fall

My mom recently got these tarts from mbell and shared some with me. I don't have a warmer and went out and bought one for the sole purpose of these tarts. My mom and sister both had these tarts and raved for days about how their house smelled of fall. I wanted that smell in my house, ergo, I bought the warmer. I loaded up my warmer with my new tart and went on to do some chores, forgetting my warmer was on. After a little while I started smelling this amazing fall smell, and realized that my warmer was on. :) I turn it on every night when I feel the need to sit in my living room and relax and "feel" the fall. I sip my coffee and just enjoy the pumpkin scent. I'll need to purchase some more soon, before I run out. ;)
Check out mbell's shop for tarts, candles and more...

Mommy Corner- No more Caillou

My husband has always hated the cartoon, Caillou. He always says "I want to punch that kid." For those of you who haven't seen it, it's about a 4 year old boy. It's a cute concept, but the boy is extremely whiny and always gets his way. His parents never discipline him or even explain what he does wrong. It's like he rules the house. Now, I don't like the cartoon either, but I tolerate it b/c my toddler LOVES it. I don't know why, but she does. I've never been able to sit through the whole cartoon. I don't get why he has to be so whiny and why his parents let him get away with stuff...
The other night I came home, my husband had been with her for a couple of hours and he said that they had been watching Caillou. The episode they watched, Caillou's friends didn't want to play the same game as he, so he got mad and said things like "I don't like them" "they're not my friends anymore" and so forth. And if you've seen the show, you know how whiny his voice can get. lol So my husband has forbidden Caillou from this house because he doesn't want our daughter learning that behavior. I do agree w/ my husband, kids can learn all sorts of things from TV and my daughter does not need help learning how to be whiny.

coffee

I must admit, I have a certain addiction to coffee. When I was working, the only thing that would get me through the day was coffee. I was drinking 5+ cups a day... Then my doctor told me to cut back. I switched to drinking 1/2 a cup in the morning and sometimes 1/2 a cup in the afternoon... I'd split 1 cup to trick myself into believing I had more than just the one cup. lol Then I became a stay at home mom, and I started drinking 2 cups a day.. Somedays more, somedays less. THEN in July, came the keurig... Now, as much as I LOVE coffee, I HATE making it. :)

So, I am in love with the keurig. I love all the options of different coffees, choosing which ones to buy is always a challenge. And with all the different flavors of coffee out there, I like to try different creamers with it. There's always at least 2 different types of creamer in my fridge, right now I actually have 3. :) Coffee Mate and I are BFF's... I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Belgian chocolate Toffee creamer. I put that in any chocolate flavor coffee and it's the best of both worlds!
I've also recently purchased the Italian Sweet Creme and it's divine. It takes so good w/ the Cinnamon roll coffee. The last one I bought was peppermint mocha. I'm not a huge fan of peppermint, but it looked so good and reminded me of Christmas, so I had to buy it! :)

The toughest decision I have to make in the mornings is which flavor coffee and creamer to choose from. :)

Mommy corner

I started a bad thing w/ my daughter at bedtime... I sing a song that basically goes like this: "night night Story, night night mommy, night night daddy, night night nona, night night poppy, night night nana, night night papa..." It goes on to name every family member and some friends if she can say their names. The family pets are also included. She loves it. lol But she keeps wanting to sing it over and over again.

Bedtime has gotten a bit easier lately. It's not taking us 2 hours to get her to sleep anymore. Somedays are better than others, but I think the newness of her "big girl" bed is wearing off for her. :)

Fall is here, my favorite time of the year! I've been shopping like crazy, updating her wardrobe. :) I went to Old Navy this past weekend and got some great deals! I got a cute dress that was on sale for $8 (1/2 off). I was walking around w/ it and a worker proceeded to tell me that it was 1/2 off the sale price, so $4. I went back to the clearance rack and got more stuff. :) I got 2 skirts and a sweater that is adorable! So I spent $17 and got 1 dress, 2 skirts and 1 sweater. Very exciting. I would've bought more but couldn't find anything else her size. Then I went to rack room shoes on a whim and found a very cute pair of white/ pink shoes for $10. I love getting deals for her. I joked w/ my sister yesterday that my daughter is the best dressed person in this house. Sad, but true. lol I never think to buy myself clothes. I just like buying baby clothes...

Cute skirt that I paid $3.50! Looks great w/ a pink shirt and the brown sweater I got.

I LOVE this little skirt! Looks great with a little Princess tshirt. :) Paid $3.50 for it!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress. It looks adorable on her! They also have it in blue. Paid $4 for it. :)
