Mommy's big girl

On Sunday we were sitting in the nursing room and baby girl wouldn't eat, she kept eyeing this toy in the nursery floor. So I put her on the floor and there she sat like such a big girl. She held herself up for the longest she's ever done and played on the drums. She really liked this toy. And then as soon as I started taking video of her sitting like such a big girl, she toppled over and started wailing. Poor baby.

Yep, she knows she's super cute ;)

She always ends up all over the place when she sleeps

Thanks to Target for their $1 section and their neat crafts. She loved making this bunny!

TOOTH

Did I tell you baby sister got her first tooth? Poor baby was teething hard, and was miserable! The tooth came a week ago, and it's so cute :) She's working on cutting the 2nd one, but it's taking a while.
I don't have a picture of it yet, it's hard to get one. lol
Last week I also gave her her first sippy cup. I was nervous b/c it took me a while to find a cup her sister liked. So I went with the Nuk training sippy cup. She LOVES it!
She figured it out immediately :)

zoo day with my girls...

This weekend my hubby went out of town, I was looking for something to do with the girls, we HAD to get out of the house. So we went to the zoo. Now, I've gone out with both girls alone before, but not to a place that requires a lot of walking. I told my toddler that her sister would be in the stroller, which would mean she'd be walking. We don't have a double stroller, each girl has their own. BUT I can't push 2 strollers. lol I took my Moby wrap b/c I figured at some point I'd be switching who sat in the stroller. lol It's a good thing I did, my toddler barely lasted 30 minutes of walking before she told me her feet hurt. She has always LOVED her beloved stroller, it's awesome b/c she's confined. Our trip was fun, but completely exhausting. What I learned from today, I need a double stroller if I'm going to do these trips on my own. lol

Walking into the zoo...

One of her favorite animals

Hi there! :)

musical

When we became pregnant with our first daughter, my husband was a bit nervous of becoming a father. He was afraid he wouldn't be a good dad. I had NO doubts about him becoming a father, and now, 3 years and 2 girls later, he has proven to be an AMAZING father. As soon as the car pulls up the driveway, my toddler gets so excited because daddy is home. He comes inside and immediately starts playing with her. They chase each other around the house, play legos, and so much more! It is so sweet. He is the most patient, kindest, sweetest, selfless and awesome father! I love how he treats them like a princess. Our toddler is a total daddy's girl and always says "I'm a princess or daddy says I'm a princess".. It's so cute!

Watching my husband play with my girls makes me fall more and more in love with him...

A few nights ago I snapped some pictures of daddy and our oldest playing their guitars and singing :) Baby sister joined on the fun too :)

AAAHHHH

That's the sound of me screaming. I am TIRED! So tired. I am more tired now than when baby sister was born. Baby sister is teething, she has not let me sleep. It's 1 am before I can get to bed, she's been waking 2+ times a night. She wakes up around 6:30 and by the time I can get back in bed, big sister is waking up. Baby sister will not get on a schedule, she is so unpredictable and random. I'm worn out, drained in every way possible. I HATE feeling this way. I have no energy, I feel like I'm not devoting enough time to my oldest daughter. We haven't done "school" at all this week. Yesterday during naptime, I spent time with my oldest, playing board games and then we chased each other around the house. It was so fun.
I've been feeling like the worst mom b/c I haven't had energy to do much w/ the girls...

I just want to feel normal again. I want to wake up in the mornings and not be tired. My oldest has been waking up before 7, when she used to sleep until almost 9. That's KILLING me.

I feel like my house is out of control, laundry always piles up. We eat quick meals b/c I don't feel like cooking. I know this is just a season in life and it will pass. Baby sister is taking teething very hard and it's thrown this whole household for a loop. It's also hard to put her on a set sleep schedule when she still sleeps in our room. With our oldest, I trained her by letting her cry it out. I can't do that when baby is in my room. She freaks out b/c we are right there...

I really don't want to sound like I'm complaining. I am exhausted. I look forward to sleeping through the night again. I look forward to putting baby sister in her sister's room and no longer have a baby in my room. lol Though I will miss waking up to her sweet face. I know I am blessed and so many women out there would kill to be in my shoes.
So I will take this awful exhaustion that just brings me to the point of tears if it means being a mom to these 2 little cuties.

They make me happy :)

Yummy Meal

Lately I have been so sick of cooking. I haven't had the energy to cook everyday and I'm sick of the same meals all the time.
Last week we had 2 new meals, thanks to my friend Dani who shared some new recipes with me. :)

My sister had shared a recipe with me a couple weeks ago, and I decided to save it for Valentine's day. It was SO good!!!!

The recipe was chicken cordon bleu. I made Parmesan cheese couscous, sugar snap peas and garlic toast. It was all so good, I couldn't stop eating. lol

We had a candle lit dinner with our girls :)

I've had 2 friends ask me for the chicken recipe after seeing this picture. lol I will totally be making this again! :)

Date night

Hubby and I NEVER celebrate Valentine's day on the 14th.. It's usually the 12th or 13th.. This year, we decided to just do it during the weekend. There is a restaurant close to our house that is all brick, it has white lights all over and it's an old part of town, our favorite area in our town. I've been dying to eat there, so my mother in law came and watched the girls and we went out to eat. We haven't been on a date since baby sister's birth, 6 months ago. I didn't struggle with leaving her as much as I did w/ my firstborn 3 years ago. But it was a little odd being out and not having a diaper bag or a cute little one in my arms. It was so nice being out! We were only gone for about 2 1/2 hours. We went out in b/t feedings, because she is only nursed.
Our meal was nice, and then we ended up at Target. lol We bought lady and the tramp for the girls, then we went to Starbucks... So at Target and Starbucks I totally got checked out. With my husband next to me! I told him it was his fault for buying me a low cut shirt. hahaha Though I'm pretty sure the guys at Starbucks were checking my outfit, but my cute husband. lol

Earlier on Saturday my husband went to work some overtime. He's been studying to get a new license. When he came home, he had my favorite flowers, Tulips. :) And he brought the girls some red flowers. Big sissy loves flowers.

15 things...

When we had our first daughter, not much changed for us. We were finally parents and totally stoked! There was an adjustment period, but we quickly learned our roles. Our daughter was sleeping through the night by 9 weeks (that was awesome) and she was overall pretty easy. She put herself on a schedule/routine, she knew exactly when naptime was and if I put her down a minute later, the world ended. lol There were very exact and specific times to eat and sleep, and she and I both knew that. She only slept in her crib, in her room. She is a creature of habit.

6 months ago, we became parents to a 2nd little girl and it feels like our world was turned upside down. She is a true joy and I can't believe we waited so long for her! She is the opposite of her sister, mellow and quiet. BUT with that opposite also comes high maintenance (I thought my first one was high maintenance, boy I was wrong!), whiny and clingy. She's a total mama's girl, which is super sweet, but super exhausting at nights. She also has no set schedule. Everytime I think we're getting somewhere, she changes everything. One week she's sleeping through the night, the next she wakes up 2x a night... It's been very difficult. I never change anything, she just loves change. hahaha I keep trying to set her on a routine, because I LOVE routine/schedules, but this little one has been super difficult.

I know that having kids is hard and people take it differently. But having a 2nd one has been super hard on us and I am still trying to recover. Exhaustion doesn't begin to describe what I feel. But with that comes joy, and as I sit here sipping a much needed large cup of coffee, I look at my oldest sitting next to me watchign my every move (she's my shadow) and I look on the floor to see my sweet baby playing on her playmat. I am blessed and I will take the sleepless nights and unpredictable baby. :)

So I was thinking, after having 2 kids, here are 15 things I've learned:

1. The couch has become my best friend. I used to only nap/sleep on my bed. I LOVE my bed and pillow and couldn't imagine sleeping anywhere else. YEAH, now I will sleep where I can, and my couch has become a great nap spot. :)

2. I used to nap for as long as my oldest napped, but when baby came along, it was very hard to do. I stay busy, but I still require a nap b/c I am not sleeping well at night. I have learned the wonderful power of power naps. My body got used to 20 minutes and now I will wake up automatically after a 20 minute nap. I'd love to sleep more, but that helps me get through the day.

3. Coffee is a MUST!

4. I am a homebody. My oldest daughter is not. SO I try to get her out of the house sometimes to let her burn some energy.

5. Sometimes, TV can be a wonderful babysitter so you can get a minute to clean or just take a breather. lol I never thought I'd say that, but I'm being honest. lol

6. I need to take time to spend with each girl individually. My oldest is much happier/ well behaved if she has alone time with mommy.

7. Calling daddy at work and asking him to pick something up for dinner b/c you're too tired to cook or b/c the baby is fussy and won't let you put her down has become a "norm" here. Though I figured out that cooking earlier in the day during naptime is wisest!

8. Making our own baby food is cost effective and not as hard as I thought.

9. Leaving the kids with daddy to go grocery shopping is SO much better than taking them with me. I am thankful to have the choice, and most of the time I will get groceries at night so I can go alone and have my "mommy alone" time. :)

10. Sometimes when we're at the store, I do resort to bribery to get my toddler to obey. :) Yeah yeah, maybe that makes me a "bad" mom, but when your infant is screaming and you're trying to get your errands done, it works. lol

11. kids are unpredictable. I've learned to go with the flow even though I HATE change. And I just try to laugh more with them and have fun.

12. Kids are learning about life by watching us. They are learning to become people, and learning how to behave. It's our job to teach them what kinds of persons they'll be. It's scary. But I've realized that my daughter copies a lot of my behavior and I've had to change a lot. It's also challenging to think that what we do with them and say to them will mold them into little people.

13. I pray for my girls and pray that I can be a good role model.

14. Spending time reading the Bible daily helps mommy be closer to God, which usually means a much happier mommy. I need to remember to glorify God in all I do, from raising my children, to being a wife...

15. Give my kids lots of hugs and kisses and tell them I love them often. I always tell my daughter "mommy needs a big hug and kiss".. Yesterday she tapped my leg and said "mommy, I need a big hug and kiss" It was SO sweet. :)

my sweet girls

This cutie turned 6 months old on the 3rd. I can hardly believe it! We had a photoshoot that day, she cried thru half of it. lol
She has her 6 month check up next week, so I'll know her size then.

At 6 months, baby sis wakes up about 2x a night. It's been very hard b/c at this age her sister had been sleeping thru the night for 4 months...
She is a drool monster. Teeth must be coming soon!
she is so quiet and mellow, but is finding her voice
she is so happy and smiley!
She just recently found her feet and loves grabbing them.

She is wearing 6-9 month clothes, size 1 shoes.
I love putting her in dresses and seeing her chunky legs exposed. lol

This sweet baby loves her sister and is always all smiles when sister is around!
She tried 2 different snacks last week, mums and puffs. She hated both. lol I'll try again in a few weeks.
She's had sweet potatoes, bananas and pears. She's liked them all. I will start making her food this week. So excited!

On the 4th, big sister asked for a pedicure. Then she asked me to paint baby sis's toes. SO I did. Here is cute baby toes with her first pedi :)

Anytime I paint big sis's toes, she asks for black, which I don't even have. lol Then she wanted brown, so I picked this as a bit of a compromise. I wish she'd chosen pink. lol

Mommy's pretty girl! She loves making silly faces for the camera and then look at it. lol
I still can hardly believe she's 3! I feel like she was just born, it's insane! Completely bittersweet. I love watching her grow, she's turning into this little girl and less and less like my baby. She loves to learn and do "school".. I've started teaching her numbers, which she likes more than the alphabet.. She's a blast!

6 months

Exactly 6 months ago today, we welcomed our 2nd daughter into this world. I remember it as if it were yesterday. We were a scheduled C-section, I had to wait about 2 hours from the time I go to the hospital to the time I walked into the OR and I hated the wait. Up till that morning I hadn't given any thought to having a baby. Sounds cruel, I know. BUT my firstborn and I had never been sepratated and I dreaded leaving her. My heart was breaking. Once we dropped her off with a friend that morning and headed to the hospital, I began getting excited. I wanted to meet my newest princess and all the waiting was killing me.

Once in the OR, I just got more and more excited. I kept asking the doctor if she was out yet. lol When she was finally out he said "wow she's big, where were you hiding her?" lol They brought her to me and I was so excited. She had a full head of black hair and was just perfect.

Daddy left w/ her and I went into the recovery room where it seemed like I waited forever! So they finally brought her to me and my poor hubby hadn't even held her yet. Her temps were really low so they were trying to warm her up the entire time, then decided to let me nurse her before warming her up. She was so sweet and I hated giving her back.

She has been such an amazing baby and I just love her to pieces. She has such a sweet personality, is mellow and cuddly. She is such a mama's girl and I love it!
At 6 months, baby sister:
-wears 6-9 month clothes
-wears size 3 diapers
-wears size 1 shoes
-started eating baby food. Right now we've had bananas, pears, sweet potatoes

We had our 6 month photoshoot, but I haven't had a chance to up load them yet.

Wordless Wednesday

If you don't know, my mom is 2KuteKreations. She is a "hooker" aka she crochets. Whenever we visit her, big sister loves to play with her yarns and hooks. lol
