Huge Milestone

Last week I finally bit the bullet and potty trained my daughter. She is 2 1/2, there's a baby coming and I really didn't want to have to change 2 diapers. lol She had been showing tons of signs of being ready. I had tried the week after she turned 2, with no success, she knew to hold her bladder, but wouldn't go in the potty. I had to fight with her to get her to even sit in the potty, so I gave up and figured I'd try again later. These past few months I'd keep her in panties for part of the day and we'd be accident free, but she still wouldn't go potty. This past month we stayed in panties daily, at least before nap. She never had an accident. I was never fully consistant w/ it, but I knew she wasn't fully ready. Last week I figured I'd try again, I'd be consistent and see if it worked.

Monday started, I put her in panties, sat her in the potty, nothing. I laid her down for nap, in panties, knowing she'd have an accident, but I needed to show her that pee pee goes in the potty, not on her panties. That day, we had 4 accidents. The 4th accident, daddy was home, we both watched her and stopped her. Then I sat her in the potty and told her that's where we pee pee. And she DID! Daddy and I were so proud and excited. She had no clue what to do w/ herself. lol We rewarded her with ice cream and stickers. She loves her sticker chart. Tuesday went by accident free and by that evening she started telling me when she had to go. We haven't had any accidents for a week, even when we're out. She tells me when she has to go, it's been awesome! She naps in panties, accident free. She still sleeps in diapers, when she can master going poopy in the potty, we'll be done w/ diapers completely. She knows she has to go #2 in the potty, but hasn't yet. I'm not worried about it, I know when she's ready she'll go. She's done such a great job with everything else, I'm so proud!!! It's such an exciting accomplishment. :)

  1. That is VERY exciting! It'll also make it a little easier on you having a new baby around :)

  2. woohoo!!!! Way to go!!!!

I just keep M bare bottomed whenever we're home. It gives her more of an incentive to use the potty because she hates having accidents on the floor (though she's okay with doing it in her big her panties)
